August 16th, 2017 – Fist technical meeting on juvenile justice in Palestine

Last August 16th, in the premises of the Palestinian Prosecutor Office in Ramallah, the first technical meeting out of 13 on juvenile justice in Palestine took place in the presence of Leila Ghaneem, Mayor of Ramallah, Taher Khalil, Chief Prosecutor of Juvenile Justice and Public Prosecutor Ziad Edween, one of the most expert of Juvenile Justice, and Ali Kaf, Human Rights Expert at the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Jerusalem. The meetings - organized by the General Prosecution Office in partnership with the thirteen Palestinian Governorates Office with the participation of all the actors involved in the juvenile justice such as Ministry of Social Affairs, Palestinian Police, High Judicial Council, Civil society and representatives of Palestinian National Authority – will aim to analyze the gap in the application of the juvenile protection bill n. 4/2016 on safeguarding children’s rights, approved last February 2016, during procedures, investigations, law trail and social services.
